Valve released a new Beta version of its Steam client just a day after the previous major update, with a few new features.

Granted, this is not a large update, but it does come with a few cool, new things and a number of critical fixes.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux client Beta update: • A sound output device is chosen on first startup, preferring HDMI. You can change the selected device using the Audio option under settings; • A Show Password option has been added to the Big Picture to simplify the password entry when using a controller; • Streaming support has been added for non-Steam games with mixed 32-bit and 64-bit binaries; • The framerate setting has been changed to be an experimental framerate lock; • Various problems with streaming at 480p resolution have been fixed.

Check out the official announcement for more details about this release. You can also download the Steam installer from Softpedia if you don't have the client.

Keep in mind that this is a Beta version and you might experience some problems with it. In order to get it, you have to enroll in the Beta program, from Preferences.
