SteamOS, a Debian-based distribution developed by Valve to be used in its hybrid PC / console, has received an important Beta update.

A new update has been released for SteamOS, featuring a long list of changes and improvements.

According to the developers, a number of bugs that have been noted on Github have been fixed, and a number of Debian Wheezy bugfixes for apt, expat, gnome-settings-daemon, gnupg, gtk+3.0, nspr, pixman, tzdata, curl, libxfont, and openssl have been added.

Also, the CPU and GPU usage has been reduced while games are running by interrupting Big Picture and overlay rendering, an issue where two cursors would appear on screen when a game was starting or exiting has been fixed, and various tearing issues on AMD platforms have been corrected.

You can download SteamOS 1.0 Build 01.13.14 Beta right now from Softpedia. Keep in mind that this is not a stable release and bugs might still be present.
