Valve has announced a number of official partners that will make the Steam Machines, but the company has no intention of shipping its own version.

CES 2014 has been a very productive event for Valve, and the SteamOS developers have announced that quite a few third-party companies will be shipping the Steam Machines. More importantly, Valve has no interest in making its own version.

According to tomshardware.com, Gabe Newell, Valve's boss, has been very clear on this subject, but it's not something set in stone.

"We're going to continue to make that decision [about releasing our own Steam Machine] as we go along. We have plans to build more machines, but we also expect that users will be really happy with the range of offerings from these hardware manufacturers," he said during CES 2014.

It's unlikely that Valve will release something soon because it would undermine the efforts of the other hardware manufacturers, but never say never.
