Util-linux, a suite of essential utilities for any Linux system that contains many basic tools used for setting up partitions and common system infrastructure, is now at version 2.24.1.

The developers of Util-linux have asked their users to provide them with much-needed feedback and bug reports.

Highlights of Util-linux 2.24.1:

• Support has been added for the special terminal on first serial line on a S/390 blkdiscard; • --with-smack has been added to config-gen.d; • Info has been added about non-local support to the man pages; • A --raw zero timestamp for kmsg has been fixed; • The patching process has been added to the howto-contribute.txt; • ext4 has been added to the list of filesystems with progress bars in the fsck man page.
