Canonical is still struggling to raise the necessary funds

Even if Ubuntu Edge faces the very real possibility of not raising enough money for its IndieGoGo campaign, it did break a few records, including the one for the largest amount raised through a crowd-funding project.

Canonical is still far off from its $32 million (€24 million) target, but at least the campaign has managed to get some attention and to take down a few records.

Ubuntu Edge has raised the biggest amount of money in 24 hours, and now, the phone has become the most backed-up project in the history of crowd-funding. The previous record holder was the Pebble watch with $10,266,845 (€7,694,558), but Ubuntu Edge managed to surpass it.

Ubuntu Edge is a phone developed by Canonical and it's scheduled for launch in May 2014. More details about the price and the specifications can be found in our initial report.
