Ubuntu developers have accepted a patch that changes the minimize behavior

Ubuntu developers have finally decided to implement a very important fix for the Unity launcher that would allow users to minimize the applications by clicking on them.

This is a feature that has been requested for a long time by the Ubuntu community, but the developers didn't want to implement it. A lot of patches have been submitted in the past and all of them have been rejected, until now.

The Ubuntu developers have finally accepted a patch that would allow users to minimize on click the opened applications, but only if the app has just one window. It won't work for multiple Writer windows, for example.

“Ok folks, I know this is loooong overdue, but we are going to put in as an unsupported option to allow clicking the Launcher icon of single windowed apps and minimize that window:) By unsupported, I mean that functionality is ‘as-is’ and no more tweaks or enhancements to it. Thanks for everyone's patience and comments on your desire for this. It's good to see passion in the Community,” said Christopher Townsend commenting about the bug report.

This means that this feature will not be integrated by default and it's still not certain where users will be able to find it.
