Canonical will most likely implement default torrent search in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Most likely, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS will feature a default torrent scope, but the question is very simple. Will users know that it's there and are they going to use it?

The developer of the torrent scope, David Callé, managed to get the approval straight from Mark Shuttleworth, Canonical’s founder, to implement it by default.

Until now, the scope has been using ThePirateBay to search for torrents, but by the time Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is released, that will change, most likely.

The torrent scope will allow users to search for torrents straight from the Dash and to load them in the default Bittorent client. It would basically eliminate the browser in between.

It sounds like a good idea on paper and Ubuntu would be the only distribution with this kind of functionality implemented, but it remains to be seen what torrent sources will be used and if those sources will be configurable.
