Developer must now focus on bug fixes and other problems

The Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) development cycle has entered its next phase and the Feature Freeze is now in effect.

Feature Freeze is nothing too dramatic. The developers must now focus on repairing the bugs and other problems in the existing packages and stop pushing new features.

“Developers should now work on squishing all the beasties out of the archive to make a solid release suitable for Long Term Support. Our next milestone is Beta 1 due for release next Thursday for participating flavors,” said Jonathan Riddell.

Even if the Feature Freeze is in effect, there are some people inside Canonical, like Mark Shuttleworth, who can still approve some new feature or package for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, if it turns out that it’s really important.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) is scheduled to release on April 17.
