Canonical published details about MySQL vulnerabilities in its Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS operating systems.

According to the company, several security issues have been fixed in MySQL. This update includes new upstream MySQL versions to correct these problems.

MySQL has been updated to 5.1.73 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Ubuntu 12.10, and Ubuntu 13.10 have been updated to MySQL 5.5.35.

In addition to security fixes, the updated packages contain bug fixes, new features, and possibly incompatible changes. For a more detailed description of the problems, you can see Canonical's security notification.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the latest mysql-server-5.5 package specific to each distribution. To apply the patch, run the Update Manager application.

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes and a restart will not be necessary.
