GBeers is a GNOME initiative that will probably have a lot of support

GBeers is an interesting worldwide initiative for GNOME meet-ups. The proposition is simple, drink beer at GNOME-related gatherings.

A meet-up is described as a gathering “awkward for people that are not yet involved in the community”.

This awkwardness is fixed with a lighting talk format, an ice breaker to know the topics and members of the community.

The format of these meetings is pretty simple. Everyone talks for about 5 or 10 minutes, there are not specific topics, and they usually happen once a month.

The first GBeers meeting took place in Madrid, according to GNOME developer Javier Hernández.

“For this first time, Emergya offered the venue for the talks and paid some free beers after the presentations (Thanks!). Ana Rey and I organized this event and we want to make it every month, as a regular meet up for GNOME lovers living in (or near) Sevilla,”, stated Javier.
