It's not clear whether it's a Valve initiative or something local

A SteamOS huge banner has been spotted on the facade of a shopping center in Barcelona, although it's unclear what Valve is trying to achieve in that particular city.

SteamOS is a Linux-based operating system scheduled to launch sometime in 2014, along with a new console / PC hybrid called Steam Machines.

It's strange that Valve is choosing to advertise a free operating system on a shopping mall in Barcelona, with the banner lost somewhere up high amongst other ads.

The banner also says, “The new operating system from Valve designed for your living room,” which is actually a good approximation of its purpose.

It's unclear whether this is an official ad from Valve or if it’s a local initiative, but it's safe to say we're going to see a lot more of them in the near future.
