A year ago, Valve took a big chance with the Linux platform and officially released the Steam for Linux client.

Many members of the Linux community have been skeptic about the success of a platform that sells games, but slowly and surely, Steam has gained quite a reputation among the Linux gamers. This is what Valve was saying a year ago:

“Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the release of its Steam for Linux client. In celebration of the release, over 50 Linux titles are now 50-75% off until Thursday, February 21st at 10 AM PST.”

A year later, the Linux users have access to 537 games and more are being launched every day. Steam for Linux shows no sign of slowing down and we can only guess how many games there will be a year from now.
