The final version of Scientific Linux 6.5, a recompiled Red Hat Enterprise Linux put together by various labs and universities around the world, is now available for download.

Scientific Linux releases used to be more frequent, but now only a few of them pop up every few months. We take what we can get.

According to the changelog, OpenAFS has been updated to version 1.6.5.1 from openafs.org (this package may have some issues and note that there is a possibility for system panic under certain conditions).

Also, alpine has been updated to version 2.10-3, which has been brought in from Fedora, and the obsolete augeas lense has been removed.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement for the regular distribution. Download Scientific Linux 6.5 right now from Softpedia.
