Samba, an app that integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the winbind daemon, has been upgraded to version 4.1.15 and is now available for download.

The 4.1.x branch is still going strong and the developers have continued to push updates for it. Even if this is just a maintenance update, users should upgrade as soon as they get the chance do so.

According to the changelog, the enumeration of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for the DNS servers has been fixed, *allocate* calls will now follow any POSIX error, the profiles tool has been fixed, and numerous smaller problems have been corrected.

As usual, users will have to wait until this particular version of Samba is made available in the repositories. It's possible to download the source package and compile it yourself, but it's a finicky piece of software and you might mess up the settings and the previous installation.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. You can download Samba 4.1.15 right now from Softpedia. If you are using this version of Samba or an older one, you should upgrade as soon as possible to take advantage of the multiple fixes.
