Samba 4.0.18, an app that seamlessly integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the winbind daemon, has been released and comes with a few changes and fixes.

This is just a maintenance build in the 4.0.x branch and the developers are still making small changes that are usually all about security and stability, for the most part.

According to the developers, the ordering problems with lib-provided and internal RPATHs have been fixed, the SMB1 wildcard unlink failure no longer leaves a retry record on the open retry queue, a lock order violation has been corrected, and debug settings are now reset after reading the config file.

Also, Samba no longer assumes PowerPC is a big-endian, reading deleted memory in “reply_writeclose()” has been fixed, an extra “:” in the message for Waf Cross Compile Build System with Cross-answers command has been fixed, empty body in the if-statement has been fixed, and the installation on FreeBSD is now working as it should.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. If you are using this version of Samba, you should upgrade as soon as possible to take advantage of the multiple fixes.
