Samba, an app that seamlessly integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the Winbind daemon, is now at version 3.6.18.

This is the oldest stable branch still maintained by the developers. Most of the changes implemented are just maintenance fixes and improvements.

Highlights of Samba 3.6.18:

• vfs_dirsort now uses non-stackable calls; • A Windows 8 Roaming profiles fail has been corrected; • Parsing linemarkers has been fixed in preprocessor output; • The output of the syslog-facility check has been fixed; • Linux kernel oplock breaks are no longer missing signals.

Samba is an important component that is needed to integrate Linux/Unix Servers and Desktops into Active Directory environments by using the winbind daemon.
