SMPlayer, a complete media player for Linux that is based on MPlayer as the playback engine and that uses its own codecs, is now at version 0.8.6.

SMPlayer 0.8.6 doesn't bring anything major, but some important fixes have been put in place and even a couple of features have been added. Highlights of SMPlayer 0.8.6:

• SMPlayer is now able update its internal Youtube code, so it's no longer necessary to update the application every time Youtube makes a change; • A section called "Updates" has been added to the preferences dialog and users are now able to configure or to disable the update checker, • SMPlayer no longer fails to find some subtitles on opensubtitles.org.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. You can also check our review of the software.

Download SMPlayer 0.8.6 right now from Softpedia.
