Vuze 5.3.0.1 Beta 10, a BitTorrent client previously known as Azureus, which is built on Java, is now ready for testing.

Vuze is a relatively lightweight BitTorrent client that can be used to download torrents and even acts as a search engine. There is no shortage of torrent clients on the Linux platform, and Vuze faces a fierce competition. The fact that it's Java-based doesn't really help its cause, although the developers have made some progress in hiding the inevitable problems that stem from its being a Java app.

According to the changelog, localization for the network status plugin has been implemented, the transport performance has been drastically improved, a metadata transfer bug has been fixed, and the plugin update size is no longer shown in bits.

Also, the tag constraints have been refined, the global download states are now saved, and indirect connection support for announces and scrapes has been implemented.

Check out the announcement for a complete list of updates and new features. You can also check the review we have for Vuze, although it's for a slightly older version.
