Canonical announced in three security notices, that updates for the Linux kernel EC2, Natty backport and Oneiric backport packages of the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) operating system, are now available for download.

These are the kernel vulnerabilities found in the Linux kernel EC2 packages for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: CVE-2012-2133.

These are the kernel vulnerabilities found in the Linux kernel Oneiric backport packages for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: CVE-2011-4131, CVE-2012-2121, CVE-2012-2133, CVE-2012-2313, CVE-2012-2319, CVE-2012-2383, and CVE-2012-2384.

These are the kernel vulnerabilities found in the Linux kernel Natty backport packages for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: CVE-2011-4131, CVE-2012-1601, CVE-2012-2121, CVE-2012-2123, and CVE-2012-2133.

You can click on each one to see how it affects your system, or go here, here and here for in-depth descriptions, as it affects other Linux operating systems as well.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the latest Linux kernel packages. To apply the update, run the Update Manager application or follow these instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Security/Upgrades.

Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!

ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change, the kernel packages have a new version number, which will force you to reinstall and recompile all third-party kernel modules you might have installed. Moreover, if you use the linux-restricted-modules package, you have to update it as well to get modules that work with the new Linux kernel version.
