LilyPond, a music engraving program devoted to producing the highest-quality sheet music possible by featuring the aesthetics of traditionally engraved music to computer printouts, is now at version 2.18.0.
LilyPond 2.18.0 is a stable version and arrives after numerous development releases, featuring a ton of improvements.
According to the changelog, many items are now positioned using their actual outline rather than a rectangular bounding box, sets and overrides can now use the syntax, and several articulations can be put into a single variable or returned from an event function.
Also, LilyPond no longer automatically infers a “\defaultchild” context in a context definition with “\accepts” clauses, and the new commands markLengthOn and markLengthOff control the allowance of horizontal space for tempo and rehearsal marks.
