A new version of Mplayer is now available, but it doesn't hold anything major

Mplayer 1.1.1, a movie player running on many systems and playing most file formats, including H.264 movies, has been released.

Everyone has been waiting for a new version of Mplayer, but the new version released is not what people have been expecting.

According to the developers, a critical fix has been implemented in the latest build and the FFMpeg copy has been changed to 0.11.

“Previously if you pointed MPlayer at some server to play back a file on it, that server could make MPlayer overwrite local files with arbitrary data.

“As a user-visible impact two features are disabled by default: Parsing MPlayer settings from ASX playlists and automatically following certain playlists without needing to use the -playlist option. Also, a warning against using the -playlist option was added,” reads the official announcement.
