The Unity Jamendo scope has been implemented for Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 14.04 operating systems, providing access to more than 400,000 songs.

Ubuntu already features access to a number of music services, such as Soundcloud, Grooveshark, U1 and Amazon. Jamendo is special because it gives users access to music licensed under Creative Commons.

“It should also land (at some point) on the smart scopes server, which means it will available by default in the dash for Ubuntu Saucy/Trusty, desktop and mobile. It was a fun one to write, and the music is great, I hope you'll enjoy it!,” said the developer of Unity Jamendo scope, David Callé.

The installation is managed though a PPA, just like any other scope. Just open a terminal and enter the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scopes-packagers sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install unity-scope-jamendo

This is it. Enjoy countless hours of free music!
