Linux Mint 16, the next iteration of the famous operating system, has received its official designation, Petra.

Clement Lefebvre has announced, on the official Linux Mint blog, the name of the next version of Linux Mint that is expected to arrive in November 2013.

“Petra, “πέτρα” in Greek, means stone or rock. It is a common name in Germany, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic,” said Clement Lefebvre in a blog post.

Linux Mint 16 “Petra” will be available in four different flavors: Cinnamon, MATE, KDE, and Xfce.

If you pay attention to the list of supported flavors, you will see that there is no mention of LXDE. A few Linux Mint users also noticed this fact.

In the meantime, you can download the latest Linux Mint 15 from Softpedia.
