Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced the immediate availability for download of yet another version of the Linux kernel, namely 3.0.101 LTS (long-term support).

Linux kernel 3.0.101 is one of the smallest releases so far but, more importantly, it's also the last one in the series.

Users have been advised to upgrade as soon as possible to a more recent version.

“This is the LAST 3.0.x longterm kernel release. It is now end-of-life. I will NOT be doing any more 3.0.x kernel releases.

“If you rely on the 3.0.x kernel series, you should now move to the 3.10.x kernel series, or, at the worse case, 3.4.x. Note, 3.4.x will only be maintained for one more year, so your time is limited on that as well,” said Greg Kroah-Hartman.

More details about the changes in this branch of the kernel can be found in the official announcement. Download Linux Kernel 3.0.101 LTS right now from Softpedia.
