Michael Tremer, a developer for the ipfire.org team, has announced that IPFire 2.13 Core 72, a new stable release of the popular Linux-based firewall distribution, is now available for download.

Just like the previous version of IPFire, the current one is host to a large number of changes and improvements.

Highlights IPFire 2.13 Core 72:

• Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) can now be used in groups, in the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocols; • The highest selected MODP group now uses 4096 bits; • The developers have fixed two problems for the squid web proxy server; • Snort has been enabled to decode packets from non-Ethernet devices again.
