LinHES (Linux Home Entertainment System), a distribution loosely based on ArchLinux that centers around MythTV and designed for Home Theater PCs (HTPC), is now at version 8.0.
LinHES 8.0 has been released only for the 64-bit platform, but it does feature a lot of changes and improvements.
Highlights of LinHES 8.0:
• All the old Nvidia drivers have been dropped and only the current ones, for the 8xxxx series, gt2xx and later, have been kept; • xconfig.sh will no longer generate full xorg.conf files; • Fbsplash has been removed and has been replaced with plymouth; • grub2 has replaced grub; • Fluxbox has been replaced by enlightenment; • A language selection screen during install has been added; • A new OSD message subsystem has been implemented.
