KmTail, a KDE4 version of the venerable Ktail program that allows users to log various files, is now at version 1.0.

According to the developers, KmTail 1.0 has dropped support for named pipes (FIFOs) because their behavior is too unreliable.

Highlights of KmTail 1.0:

• All eight priorities can now be specified in highlighting; • Open and close buttons are now available on tab bar; • The tab bar is now only shown if there is more than one tab; • A menu has been added to the tabs in order to help users detach or close a file; • The application now remembers the last directory when opening a new log; • Date and time extraction is possible and users can convert non-standard log files into the syslog format.
