Plasma Media Center, a unified media experience on PCs, tablets, netbooks, TVs, and any other device capable of running KDE software, is now at version 1.2 RC.

Canonical is not the only company that is striving to unify the user experience on multiple platforms, and the KDE developers are already working on it, but only for the media content.

The Plasma Media Center is gearing up for a final build, and a new development version has been released. According to the developers, a new key navigation has been added for switching between multiple playlists, new icons for the media controller have been implemented, displaying system time on home screen is now allowed, the Picturestrip no longer navigates in a loop, and more.

A complete list of changes and new features can be found in the official announcement. Download Plasma Media Center 1.2 RC right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
