The KDE Project developers are working hard to keep the timetable for the KDE 4.13 branch and they have just released the second Beta version.

The KDE developers are usually shy when releasing Betas and don't share the changelogs, saying that it’s all about fixing bugs and further polishing.

“This second beta release needs a thorough testing in order to improve quality and user experience. A variety of actual users is essential to maintaining high KDE quality, because developers cannot possibly test every configuration,” said the KDE developers.

The KDE 4.13 feature plan mentions improvements for a lot of the core KDE apps, games, kdepim, kdesdk, and kdeedu, and some new features that should come in handy.

The next Beta release in the 4.13 series is expected to arrive on March 12, and the final release should happen on April 16, but those are no certain release dates.

More details about this build can be found in the official announcement. Also, you can download the latest KDE Applications and Development Platform 4.13 Beta 2 sources right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
