The new packages still need to be tested properly

The KDE Project devs have announced that the first beta of KDE Applications 14.12 has been released and it's ready for testing. Users are required to properly test this version, as always.

The KDE developers have change the way the project is handled, as it has been separated into KDE Frameworks, KDE Applications, and KDE Plama. The Frameworks are all the packages in the backend and the Plasma is the desktop. That means that Applications covers the rest.

"With the various applications being based on KDE Frameworks 5, the KDE Applications 14.12 releases need a thorough testing in order to maintain and improve the quality and user experience. Actual users are critical to maintaining high KDE quality, because developers simply cannot test every possible configuration. We're counting on you to help find bugs early so they can be squashed before the final release. Please consider joining the team by installing the beta and reporting any bugs," said the devs.

More details about the changes, fixes, and new features introduced in this build can be found in the official announcement. Also, you can download the latest KDE Applications 14.12 Beta 1 sources right now from the official website. This is just the source, but it might be ready for testing in Arch Linux very soon.
