The Alpine Team has just announced that Alpine Linux 2.7.1, a community-developed operating system designed for x86 Routers, Firewalls, VPNs, VoIP, and servers, is now available for download.

Alpine Linux 2.7.1 has received a huge number of changes and new features. One of the most important updates is the implementation of a new Linux kernel, namely 3.10.19.

A number of important applications have been updated. For example, owncloud has been updated to version 5.0.13, freeradius has been upgraded to version 2.2.2, Samba has been updated to version 4.1.1, and nginx has been upgraded to version 1.4.4.

Other major changes include various updates and enhancements. For example, a fix has been implemented for the installation of the vimdiff symlink, and an unused patch for vim has been removed.
