Zorin OS, an Ubuntu-based operating system aimed at Windows users who are switching over to Linux, has now reached version 8.

Zorin OS 8 is built on the Linux architecture, so it is completely open source. It is also based on Ubuntu, one of the most used Linux operating systems in the world. The distribution is using Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander).

“We have introduced a myriad of changes in Zorin OS including updated software, improvements to the user interface and entirely new software. Zorin OS 8 includes a simpler and more beautiful Music player app, the Empathy Instant Messaging Client as well as the Zorin Theme Changer.

“We have created a beautiful new Dark theme in complement to a new and improved Light theme. We have created this simple app to switch between the two quickly and easily,” reads the official announcement.

Also, the look of the bootloader has been revamped, and the Zorin Web Browser Manager makes it easy for users to install web browsers.
