Google developers have released a new development version of Google Chrome, elevating the version number to 41.0.2236.0 and bringing a wealth of changes and improvements.

The development branch of Google Chrome is where all the interesting things happen and it's where new features land before they trickle down to the Beta and Stable versions. New features are tested and perfected here, but that doesn't mean that all implementations will eventually reach users in this form. This is why this particular version is not really for public consumption.

The changelog that has been made available notes some interesting modifications. For example, the V8 engine has been updated to version 3.31.31, the local DevTools have been fixed, the reloading of policies for extensions in public sessions has been fixed, the starting language and input method preferences are now in sync, drag and drop events on Linux are now much better recognized, and libcap2 has been removed as a dependency.

You can download Google Chrome 40.0.2214.10 for Linux right now from Softpedia. If you already have the browser installed, it's possible that you won't have to do anything special in order to get the new versions. Just upgrade the system as usual and everything will be in place.
