NVIDIA has been providing some very valuable intel and help to the Nouveau developers regarding some features in their video cards.

NVIDIA is now playing the good guy and its people have started to help the Nouveau developers with their work. This time it was about a hang that occurred with the H.264 codec on Fermi and Tesla cards.

The discussion is rather technical, but it seems that NVIDIA developers have made a habit out of helping people on the official mailing lists, and this can only be good for the community.

Nouveau is the open source version of the NVIDIA proprietary drivers, which are maintained by a group of dedicated users. You can imagine that it's difficult to work with hardware that you don't really have access to, but NVIDIA has pledged that it will try to help them as much as possible.
