GitLab, a fast, secure, and stable solution based on Ruby on Rails & Gitolite and distributed under the MIT License, is now at version 6.4.

GitLab doesn't shy away from admitting that it is inspired by GitHub and the project is even hosted there.

“We released a new version of GitLab Community Edition (CE), with new features, bug fixes, stability improvements and Rails 4 under the hood. This month we have 2 MVPs because both of them contributed awesome stuff to GitLab 6.4.”

“Steven Thonus brought us the side-by-side diff view and the ability to archive old projects. Jason Hollingsworth contributed the new ‘internal projects’ feature,” reads the official announcement.

Also, the internal projects can be cloned and browsed by any logged in user, the unified diff view is still the default, archiving a project will mark its repository as read-only, and more.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. Download GitLab 6.4.0 right now from Softpedia.
