Git, a free and open source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency, is now at version 1.8.4 RC0.

Every Git version released so far had a hefty changelog and introduced a huge number of improvements, and this development version is no different.

Highlights of Git 1.8.4 RC0:

• The Cygwin port has been updated for more recent Cygwin 1.7; • The "git rebase -i" now honors the --strategy and -X options; • The Git-gui has been updated to its 0.18.0 version; • MediaWiki remote helper (in contrib/) has been updated to use the credential helper interface from Git.pm; • The Remote transport helper has been updated.
