The GNU Core Utilities, the basic file, shell and text manipulation utilities of the GNU operating system, is now at version 8.20.

GNU Core Utilities 8.20 is just a bug fix release and it includes a very important regression fix for cp since 8.11, where cp could corrupt copies on very fragmented sparse input files.

Highlights of GNU Core Utilities 8.20:

• dd now accepts 'status=none' to suppress all informational output; • nproc now diagnoses with an error, non-option command line parameters; • Factor's core has been rewritten for speed and increased range; • seq is now up to 70 times faster than it was in coreutils-8.19 and prior; • root-only tests now check for permissions of our dummy user; • Most directories can now be built by using non-recursive make rules.

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. Download GNU Core Utilities 8.20 right now from Softpedia.
