GNOME Shell, a user interface that provides functions for the GNOME desktop environment, has just received a new update and it's now at version 3.8.3.

Even if the development for the 3.10.x branch has already started, the 3.8.x version is still getting updates.

Highlights of GNOME Shell 3.8.3:

• Alt-tab is now always switching back to the previous window; • A VPN network icon regression introduced in 3.8.2 has been corrected; • switch-to-workspace-n keybindings are now allowed in overview; • The FocusSearch DBus method has been fixed; • Input source switching is now allowed in the message tray; • The timeout for activating windows during XDND has been tweaked; • The OSD window no longer appears below the system modal dialogs.

A changelog featuring a complete list of updates and improvements can be found in the official announcement.
