GNOME Disks 3.12 will no longer feature an option to configure RAID

GNOME developers are considering the removal of RAID Support for the upcoming 3.12 release of GNOME Disks.

I'm not sure how many even knew that GNOME Disks featured an option to configure RAID devices, but the fact that the developers have decided to get rid of it has riled up a lot of people.

As usual, this is about the method chosen by the GNOME developers to inform the users about the upcoming changes that will be implemented.

According to a post on worldofgnome.org, there are multiple reasons for removing RAID support: to make the user interface simpler, to simplify the code-base, and there are now better things to use than MD-RAID, for example btrfs and ZFS.

This is not exactly unexpected and GNOME Disks is not a high-profile application, but the interesting thing is that, if you really want to configure RAID, you're going to have to resort to a terminal.
