FreeBSD 10.0 RC3, an operating system for x86, ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98, and UltraSPARC architectures, is now available for download and testing.

The developers advise users that, on systems running FreeBSD 10.0 BETA1 (and only systems running 10.0 BETA1), they have to run the following command before using freebsd-update:

sed -i '' -e 's/%@/%~@/' /usr/sbin/freebsd-update

Highlights of FreeBSD 10.0 RC3:

• Several minor bugfixes and functionality enhancements have been implemented to bhyve; • New sysctl and kern.supported_archs, containing the list of FreeBSD MACHINE_ARCH values whose binaries this kernel can run, have been added; • A pkg(8) repository configuration file for cdrom-based package installation has been added; • A fix to allow bsdconfig(8) has been added in order to be able to install packages included on the DVD; • The Xen build without INET has been fixed.
