FreeBSD 10.0 RC2, an operating system for x86, ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98, and UltraSPARC architectures, is now available for download and testing.

The developers have advised users that, on systems running FreeBSD 10.0 BETA1 (and only systems running 10.0-BETA1), they have to run the following command before using freebsd-update:

sed -i '' -e 's/%@/%~@/' /usr/sbin/freebsd-update

Highlights of FreeBSD 10.0 RC2:

• A crash that occurred when attempting to use a non-disk device as an iSCSI LUN has been fixed; • The handling of empty iSCSI authentication groups has been fixed; • A regression in bsdinstall(8) that prevented the system from decrypting GELI providers when installing ZFS on GELI has been fixed; • Several Radeon KMS bug fixes have been implemented; • Several wireless bug fixes have been implemented.

The official changelog comes with a complete list of fixes and modifications. Download FreeBSD 10.0 RC2 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
