E2fsprogs, a tool which provides the filesystem utilities for use with the ext2 filesystem and which also supports the ext3 and ext4 filesystems, is now at version 1.42.9.

The new version of E2fsprogs, 1.42.9, comes with a lot of new features, changes, and fixes than the previous release.

Highlights of E2fsprogs 1.42.9:

• Mke2fs will detect an attempt to create a file system on a loop mounted file and complain without the -FF option; • A large number of bugs in resize2fs, e2fsck, debugfs, and libext2fs have been fixed; • The tune2fs program will now allow changing the uuid on a mounted file system; • Mke2fs will now properly set the LARGE_FILE feature when creating a journal >= 2GB; • A potential integer overflow in e2reefrag has been fixed.
