The developers have updated a large number of packages

CRUX, a lightweight, i686-optimized Linux distribution targeted at experienced Linux users, which is reflected in a straightforward tar.gz-based package system, is now at version 2.8.0.

The biggest change in CRUX 2.8.0 is by far the update to Linux kernel 3.5.4. A few other major updates were also implemented.

Highlights of CRUX 2.8.0:

• CRUX 2.8 ships with Xorg 7.7 and xorg-server 1.13.0; • libmpc has been updated to version 1.0.1; • The oldest kernel supported by glibc is 2.6.39; • openssl has been updated to version 1.0.1, required by many packages; • libpcre has been updated to 8.31' • Time zone data has been removed from glibc and is now provided by a new port; • CRUX 2.8 includes glibc 2.16.0, gcc 4.7.2 and binutils 2.22.
