The new Unity Control Center is already in place and it's working just fine

Canonical has gone through with the temporary replacement of the GNOME Control Center with Unity Control Center and now the developers are calling for further testing.

The upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 (LTS) will feature this temporary Unity Control Center and it's just a step before a convergent version, which will be the same on both Ubuntu Touch and desktop.

Canonical's Robert Ancell has provided more information about the state of this replacement and called for more testing.

“unity-control-center has been the default for some time now and all major packages have been updated to use it when appropriate. Please make sure to file any bugs against any applications that still try and call gnome-control-center (or don't when they should). If you are using a standard Ubuntu desktop you can uninstall gnome-control-center now,” he said.

Users won't be able to differentiate between the old and new version, but that might change in the future.
