14 DAY TRIAL // Canonical has updated the Linux kernel for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS development cycle, which is now using the latest stable 3.13 version.
Following on its promise to try to integrate the latest available Linux kernel into the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), Canonical is now updating it constantly with the most recent builds.
“We have uploaded a new 3.13.0-7.25 Trusty kernel to the archive. This includes a rebase to the first v3.13.1 upstream stable release. We have also merged the powerpc and lowlatency flavors back into our main repo,” said Canonical's Joseph Salisbury.
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) is expected to arrive on April 17, 2014. The company has already said that it is shooting for the 3.13 stable kernel, but the final version of the kernel has been released.
If the Linux kernel 3.14 development cycle is short enough, Canonical might get to integrate it into Ubuntu 14.04, although the chances of that happening are pretty small.
