It's unlike Canonical to postpone releases, but they say it's normal

Canonical has decided to delay the launch of the fourth point release for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by two weeks.

It's unlike Canonical to postpone the release of any of its distributions, even if it's just a maintenance update that doesn't feature anything dramatic.

“I would also like to point out that the 12.04.4 point release was pushed out by 2 weeks from Jan 23 to Feb 6. This will not have any impact on the kernel, we will still plan on shipping with the kernel we currently have going through -proposed,” said Canonical's Joseph Salisbury in the latest Ubuntu Kernel meeting.

Canonical releases regular updates for its LTS distributions, and the 12.04.4 version was initially scheduled for January 23. This date has been pushed back, but it should present no problems to the 12.04 users as long as they stay updated.
