The porting process for the game is well under way

The BioShock Infinite first-person shooter, developed by Irrational games and published by 2K Games, is now downloading in Steam for Linux, although it's not yet playable.

2K Games is continuing its policy of porting the titles in its catalog and it looks like BioShock Infinite is the next one in the series. We noticed a week ago that it appeared in the Steam database, with mentions about the Linux platform, and now most of the files have been made available for download. This is not something unusual and it happened a few times already, especially with the important titles.

In fact, 2K Games just confirmed a couple of days ago that they have this intention, but they haven't said anything else. They only mentioned that fact that more details about the game and the porting process will be made available after the New Year's Eve.

It's also believed that the same guys who already made the Mac OS X, Aspyr Media, will not be handling the porting process. It's still unclear who will bring the game to the Linux, so that remains to be seen. In the meantime, you can download BioShock Infinite on Steam for Linux and wait until the binary files are made available.
