Automake, a tool for automatically generating Makefile.in files compliance with the GNU Coding Standards, is now at version 1.14.1.
Automake 1.14.1 is not a large release and this can be easily observed from the limited number of improvements and changes.
Highlights of Automake 1.14.1:
• The user is no longer allowed to override the --srcdir nor the --prefix configure options used by "make distcheck"; • A gross inefficiency in the recipes for installing byte-compiled python files that was causing O(N^2) performance on the number N of files, instead of the expected O(N) performance, has been fixed; • A more reproducible output for warning messages has been implemented; • The “test-driver” script now actually errors out with a clear message.
