AppArmor 2.8.3, a Mandatory Access Control (MAC) system that is a kernel (LSM) enhancement to confine programs to a limited set of resources, has been released.

AppArmor protects the operating system and applications from external or internal threats and all forms of attacks by preventing unknown application flaws from being exploited.

The developers have released a small number of updates lately, but at least they are pretty consistent.

Highlights of AppArmor 2.8.3:

• The apparmor_parser --create-cache-dir command line option has been added; • A fix has been implemented for the incorrectly cleared cache in apparmor_parser; • The --create-cache-dir option has been added in apparmor_parser; • The Samba 4 support has been fixed; • A number of smaller fixes have been implemented.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement. Download AppArmor 2.8.3 right now from Softpedia.
