The latest version of Apache Tomcat can be downloaded from Softpedia

Apache Tomcat 8.0.0 RC1, an open source software implementation of the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies, developed under the Java Community Process, has been released and it's available for testing.

The Apache Tomcat Project has announced the first Release Candidate for the latest branch of Apache, bringing a lot of interesting features.

The most important changes are represented by the newly implemented support for Java Servlet 3.1, JavaServer Pages 2.3, Java Unified Expression Language 3.0 and Java WebSocket 1.0.

Also, according to the developers, the default connector implementation is now the Java non-blocking implementation (NIO) for both HTTP and AJP.

Remember that this is a beta version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
